Primary Purpose:
The primary purpose of the Graduate Assistant is to support the Academic Preparation, Recruitment & Outreach (APRO) office with designated outreach, retention, and mentoring activities sponsored by the UCR Graduate Division. This position is a quarter-by-quarter appointment requiring 10 hours per week during the academic year and 20 hours per week during the summer.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide mentoring for both undergraduate and graduate students in APRO programs.
Help organize and manage summer academic preparation programs (e.g., UC LEADS/MSRIP/Pre-Doc Scholars, Bridges to Doctorate, Get Connected, UCR undergraduate outreach programs, Grad Slam) and other meetings by scheduling events, organizing workshops and symposia, designing and marketing materials and any other duties needed to ensure a successful event.
Represent Graduate Division and/or the APRO office at recruitment events.
Manage and maintain continuous presence on APRO social media accounts and manage APRO web site, including photographing and videotaping to publicize APRO activities.
Assist in data collection and analyses, program evaluation, and the maintenance of electronic databases.
Handle confidential and sensitive data with integrity.
Perform other duties as assigned.
General Eligibility and Preferred Requirements
Must be enrolled as a a graduate student while employed and in good standing with the university.
Must have knowledge of UCR graduate school and be able to work closely with and provide responsible programming for a diverse student population.
Must have excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, familiarity with Adobe PDFs and Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva and video editing software. Ability to edit and maintain a Drupal website and maintain social media accounts with basic training.
