Application Fee Waiver Request - Financial Hardship

Please submit the form below if you want an application fee waiver due to financial hardship.

Application fee waivers are ONLY available to qualified domestic (US Citizen, Permanent Resident, AB540, or DACA) applicants. We DO NOT offer financial hardship fee waivers to international applicants.

You may submit your graduate application without paying the application fee. Please note that your application WILL be reviewed once the fee has been waived or paid. We cannot waive or refund the application once it has been paid.

A fee waiver may only be approved for one application. All requests will be processed within four (4) business days.

I request that my $135.00/$155.00 UCR Graduate Application Fee be waived for the following reason. *

A. I am currently receiving need-based financial aid from my undergraduate or graduate institution.

B. Payment of the application fee would create a financial hardship based on the below income eligibility guidelines.

A. Attach a copy of your letter from a financial aid officer at the institution you are currently attending OR your current Student Aid Report (SAR) generated from your FASFA. Either document must include your Student Aid Index (SAI). Only those with an SAI of $4,000 or less will be considered.

B. Attach a copy of your most recently filed Federal Income Tax Return. Please provide IRS Form 1040 if you are not claimed as a dependent or a copy of the Federal Income Tax Return on which you are listed as a dependent.

Household size is determined by the number of people you report or claim on your income tax forms for the previous year. If you are claimed as a dependent, your household size is determined by the total number of people claimed on your tax form (IRS 1040). A copy of this form must be submitted for verification of eligibility. If you are independent and have no earned income, you must document how you supported yourself for the past year and why you need more funds to pay the application fee.
