GUIDELINES FOR UC PRESIDENT'S PRE-PROFESSORIATE FELLOWS (HSI) AWARDS
This program’s goal is to enhance faculty pathways for historically underrepresented groups, particularly Latinx, African Americans, American Indians/Native Americans, Filipinx, and Pacific Islanders in all disciplines; women in STEM; and Asian Americans in the humanities and social sciences. The intent of the program is to provide fellowships for domestic historically underrepresented minorities from California HSIs. For purposes of this fellowship, AB540 students are eligible. International students are not eligible for this fellowship.Eligibility Criteria
Application Procedure
The applicant must follow the graduate program’s instructions for deadlines to complete the application form, including the research statement. Two letters of recommendation from faculty are required for each nominated application; one letter must be from the dissertation adviser. Programs will submit one final applications from their chosen nominee no later than January 16, 2024.
Support Summary
Fellows will receive a $37,000 stipend for the 2024-25 academic year. A $10,000 grant will also be awarded to the fellows for use during their Ph.D. tenure for professional development opportunities that will expose, prepare and inspire them to pursue the professoriate.
Some awards are funded through UCOP monies available only to domestic students who meet diversity criteria. Thus, all students need to complete the diversity form so Graduate Division can determine an appropriate funding source for each awardee. A diversity statement is require to be considered for the award.
