Please note that these programs are a full-time commitment for 8 weeks (June 26 - August 18). We discourage students from working or taking courses during their summer internship.

Mentoring Summer Research Internship Program (MSRIP) is UC Riverside's 8-week summer research internship designed for under-resourced and underrepresented undergraduate students (and select master's students) in any major to gain research experience and academically prepare for graduate school. Students will conduct and present their own research under the guidance of a faculty mentor and attend professional development workshops throughout the summer.

Mentoring Summer Research Internship Program (MSRIP) for Transfer Students is specifically designed for under-resourced and underrepresented transfer undergraduate students in any major to gain research experience and academically prepare for graduate school. Students will participate in the 8-week summer research internship, conducting and presenting their own research with a faculty mentor and attending the professional development workshop series. We especially encourage juniors to apply.

UC Leads is a 2-year, UC-systemwide research opportunity for under-resourced and underrepresented students currently enrolled in a STEM degree program. Students will participate in MSRIP's summer internship programming within the first academic year and then have the opportunity to conduct and present research at a different UC campus in the following academic year. Please note that this is a 2-year commitment that includes summer, fall, winter, and spring quarters.

Latinxs & The Environment (L&E) Research Fellowship is an 8-week summer research internship designed for undergraduate students committed to advancing Latinx participation and leadership in environmental fields from any major to gain research experience in environmental fields. Students will conduct research under the guidance of a faculty mentor and attend professional development workshops throughout the summer.

Please note that you can only apply for one program; however, if the administration feels that the program to which you applied is not the best fit for you, we will automatically consider you for one of the alternative programs.
